The Academic Computing and Information Services (ACIS) at the National Institute of Education invites suitable candidates to serve as a Senior Network Consultant / Network Consultant in the Infrastructure and Database Department. Preference will be given to individuals with campus wired and wireless management experience. Job Description • Design and manage the campus LAN and WAN infrastructure including structured cabling, routers, switches, UPS, DNS and syslog • Manage network appliances such as firewalls, IPS, load balancers, packet shaper, web proxy and VPN • Perform network availability, capacity, incident, problem and asset lifecycle management • Develop and review standards, procedures and documentation for network operations • Execute, review and update the business continuity and IT disaster recovery plans • Work closely with end-users, support staff and vendors on network implementation and maintenance • Work on weekends occasionally for preventive maintenance and project-related activities, provide on-call rotational support coverage and 24-hour response for emergencies Requirements • A Degree in IT/Computer/Electronics Engineering or equivalent • At least 8 years of working experience in enterprise network management and Internet services • At least 5 years of project management experience and has completed at least 3 medium-sized network upgrade or deployment projects • Experience with networking protocols such as DNS, DHCP, BGP, MPLS, OSPF, VPN, wireless technology and information security • Working knowledge and hands-on experience with routers and switches (Cisco, Juniper), bandwidth management (Allot, Blue Coat), firewalls (Check Point, Cisco, Fortinet, Palo Alto), intrusion prevention (Cisco, McAfee, SourceFire), link load-balancing (F5, Radware), load balancing (Citrix, F5), wireless (Aruba, Cisco, Huawei) and network management (Cisco, SolarWinds). The NIE invites applications for the Technical Specialist position in the Physical Education & Sports Science Academic Group (PESS AG). This is a 2-year contract post. Responsibilities Sports Facilities Office • Assist in procurement of sports facilities’ maintenance contracts and equipment. • On-site supervision of maintenance works. • Assist in internal and external bookings of sports facilities and billings for the usage of facilities by external organisations. • Assist faculty members to set up sports equipment for classes. • Provide logistics support for sports-related events. • Assist in the setting up of equipment at individual stations for physical proficiency tests. • Perform regular inspection of sports facilities to ensure that users adhere to rules and regulations and to inform supervisor in the event when faulty equipment are spotted. • Conduct briefing for visitors to PESS sports facilities. • Conduct safety briefing for users of PESS sports facilities. • Opening and locking of all sports facilities when on duty. • Perform counter duties such as issuing of equipment and booking of facilities. • Perform inspection of fitness rooms particularly during peak hours’ usage • Perform first aid duties in the event of injuries. • Perform any other duties assigned by PESS management. Requirements • A Polytechnic Diploma in Sport Management, Exercise or Sports Science or other relevant qualifications. • Relevant experience in handling and managing sporting equipment/facilities. • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programmes. • Experience in life-saving with a valid Bronze Medallion Certificate would be an advantage. • Training in First Aid & AED would be an advantage. • Ability to work independently and as a team member. • Able to perform shift work. (Working hours: Morning shift: 8am to 5.15pm, Afternoon shift: 12.45pm to 10pm)
