Job Description
The Teacher Aide will be assisting our APSN teachers in planning, developing, delivering and evaluating appropriate individualised educational services, learning programmes and instructions for special needs students in both self-contained and integrated settings.

Key Responsibilities
Assist teachers in managing students in classrooms and community-based activities
Monitor and record the progress of students
Liaise and network with other professionals, parents and care-givers to meet the pastoral and cognitive needs of students
Supervise and assist individual or small groups of students in activities/educational tasks set by teachers
Assist teachers in preparation of instructional materials and/or classroom environment for lessons
Provide support for students with Mild Intellectual Disability (MID), Autism and other developmental disabilities. Priority is to support these students in developing skills to enhance personal care and independence, and support daily lessons/activities in and beyond the classroom (including student profiling)
Work with functional committees to plan and implement school-wide educational and recreational programmes
Collaborate and consult with allied professionals, parents, caregivers and external agencies to ensure quality support and well-being of students

Requirements
Minimum GCE A-Level, Polytechnic Diploma or equivalent
Good time management, problem solving and decision making skills
Effective oral and written communication skills
Effective classroom and student behaviour management skills
Prior experience in diagnosing and assessing learning disorders
Prior experience teaching persons with MID
Working knowledge of educational technology applications
Knowledge of current special education practices and methodologies

Established in 1976, APSN is a social service agency that provides special education, vocational training and employment support services for individuals with mild intellectual disability (IQ 50-70). Benefiting over 2,200 beneficiaries each year, we currently operate four Special Education (SPED) Schools (APSN Chaoyang School, APSN Katong School, APSN Tanglin School and APSN Delta Senior School) for students between the ages of 7 and 21, an APSN Student Care Centre for children from 7 to 18 years old and an APSN Centre for Adults for persons from 18 years and older. We are constantly expanding our network to reach out to more beneficiaries and to understand their needs so that we are better able to support them.
